Online counselling in Alberta

Welcome to Therapy Alberta!

You might find yourself thinking about therapy but have some questions.

  • Are you brand new to therapy? Maybe you’re wondering how to get started.

  • Have you tried therapy before? Maybe you had a good experience, or a bad one, and you’re wondering what it will be like this time.

We've all struggled - we're human too. We have also all been in therapy, so we know what it feels like to be you right now. We accept you exactly as you are now.

We're so glad you're here and that you found us. At Therapy Alberta, we do things differently.

We want to make going to therapy easier for you. We offer individual, couple, and family counseling for adults and teens to work on whatever is going on at home, school, work, or in relationships. And we offer all our therapy sessions online!

You’ll love online counselling because:

  • We bring therapy to you, wherever you live in Alberta – city or rural.

  • You don't have to do anything to prepare for therapy.

  • No extra trips in our cold winters!

  • You can just find a private room where you call or connect to our secure video on your phone or computer.

  • You will get the same level of care as an in-person session, including high ethical standards protecting our client’s wellbeing, privacy, and confidentiality.

  • It’s socially conscious! Online therapy and a paper-free client experience help us to work on environmental wellness too.

Virtual therapy sessions for humans

We are a diverse and inclusive community of psychologists, social workers, and counsellors with a mission to improve mental health and transform mental healthcare. We care about building a relationship and safe space where you can explore anything you think, feel, or do.

All clients should be treated as individuals. We meet you where you're at, as equals, and you can just show up. Our therapists are non-judgmental and lead with compassion and empathy to help build you up with dignity.

To help you on your journey, we accept direct billing and offer a sliding scale for folks from all communities, including equity-seeking groups, with online counselling across Alberta. We know accessibility is important.

We see you as a whole person – body, mind, and emotion in the context of the world. When we work together, we consider the personal, biological, social, historical, and political pressures on your mental and physical health.

We help people struggling with anxiety, car accidents, communication, depression, emotions, gender, grief, identity, self-esteem, self-harm, stress, trauma, and more.

We don't want to change you. We just want to help you know and express yourself better, and love yourself and others better - then you naturally become how you want to be.

All are welcome at Therapy Alberta

We honor you and all your identities and parts of self. All humans are welcome at Therapy Alberta, including folks from BIPOC and 2SLGBTQIA+ communities.

So, we invite you to come to meet one of our compassionate therapists who can help you get where you want to be.

You can choose your own counsellor and book online or contact us to get matched with the best therapist to meet your needs. You can schedule a free consultation to get to know us better, or book your first session to get started right away.

Your story matters. We're listening.

Therapy Alberta is an independent, profit for good, non-government therapy group practice serving Calgary & Alberta

Therapy Alberta respectfully acknowledges we are supported by the land of Turtle Island, now called Canada. Turtle Island is the home of the many First Nations, Métis and Inuit who have travelled, gathered, lived on and cared for these lands for centuries. Calling Canada our home is a privilege and responsibility. Declarations of land are only one component of our commitment to Truth and Reconciliation.

We are committed to new communities of decolonization. We strive to create safe, affirming, anti-racist and anti-oppressive spaces to welcome and provide free mental health care for people from Indigenous, Black, Color and LGBTQ+ communities and those impacted by trauma. Support our mission today.
